Taiwan’s Transportation Minister Yeh Kuang-shih said in the island’s Legislative Yuan that a special economic zone already set up at Taoyuan International Airport on the southwest outskirts of Taipei might be more “practical” for casino gaming, local media said. The previous government line was to back casinos, but only on outlying islands to discourage excessive local gaming.
