Taiwan seeks gaming investment for Taoyuan airport area

Taiwan is seeking investment from gaming companies in the area around the Taoyuan International Airport to create an Asian hub, local media said, citing Li Wei Feng, an advisor to the Taoyuan government. The efforts to attract investment come despite the fact the central government has yet to introduce legislation to legalise gambling.

“The government is handling the relevant legislation at this moment. However, we can start planning on the non-gambling elements first. From my understanding of the gambling industry, it is quite easy to transform from non-gambling to gambling,” Li said. The county government and the Taipei Trade Centre Hong Kong are organizing a conference to introduce Macau investors to the project.
