The Osaka-based Takenaka Corporation, one of Japan’s big five construction companies, has launched a new leadership team with its eyes clearly focused on gaining development contracts related to the 2025 World Expo and the anticipated Yumeshima IR.
Masato Sasaki will become the new president and Masahiro Miyashita the new chairman, effective from the March 27 shareholders’ meeting.
Sasaki was reportedly tapped for this promotion due to his strong background in real estate development projects. It is thus felt that he can succeed in gaining a major share of Yumeshima development.
Miyashita, speaking of Sasaki, told a press conference on Wednesday, “He will be responsible for large-scale projects. He has experience with sales as well as management planning. He has both great capability as a manager and balanced judgment.”
Last October, Takenaka established a “Yumeshima MICE/IR Promotion Office” under the leadership of an executive named Masahisa Kato.
