The Star’s Queensland license suspension extended to December 20th

The Star Entertainment Group has indicated that the government of Queensland has approved an extension of its license suspensions for both The Star Gold Coast and Treasury Brisbane casinos from May 31^st until December 20^th.

The group informs that ‘The Star has been advised that this ‘will allow the Queensland Government to consider the outcomes of the Second Bell Inquiry into The Star in New South Wales and to better assess The Star’s remediation progress, before making further decisions.’

Despite the extension until the 20^th, the term of appointment for the Special Manager to both properties by the courts is still set to end on December 8^th.
The group notes that this move ‘relates only to The Star’s Queensland operations’ and that it ‘is continuing to participate in the Second Bell Inquiry which remains ongoing in New South Wales’.
The Star has seen a raft of topflight departures and corporate culture shakeups recently amongst the ongoing inquiries. This includes the recent replacement of both the group’s Chairman and its CEO.
The company is aiming to prove its validity in continuing to hold a casino license in the states of Queensland and New South Wales, after allegations of malfeasance.
