Tom Waterhouse loses defamation suit against columnist

Australian bookmaker Tom Waterhouse has lost a defamation case against Fairfax Media columnist Peter FitzSimons.  Waterhouse sued the writer over a column about a marketing email sent to people on an Australian Rugby Union mailing list promising to refund bettors who backed the Australian Wallabies against the South African Springboks if Australia did not win.  Waterhouse alleged the article defamed him by saying he had "harrassed" those on the mailing list and was not "a genuine supporter of the Wallabies".
