Transact Q2 revenue gains 8 percent as international casino sales surge

Transact Technologies said its Q2 net sales rose 8 percent, boosted by surging sales to casinos in Europe, Asia and Australia.

Total sales for the quarter were $14.71 million. Printer and terminal sales volume increased 6 percent to approximately 39 thousand units driven primarily by an 81 percent increase in unit volume from the casino and gaming market.

These increases were partially offset by an 83 percent decline in unit volume from the lottery market. The average selling price of printers and terminals increased 7 percent due primarily to lower lottery printer sales.

International sales increased 221 percent to $3.4 million due primarily to a 267 percent increase in sales in the international casino and gaming market.

Revenue from the casino and gaming market includes sales of thermal ticket printers used in slot machines, video lottery terminals, and other gaming machines that print tickets or receipts instead of issuing coins at casinos and racetracks and other gaming venues worldwide.

The company said its international revenue was led by a 366 percent increase in thermal casino printer sales and a 153 percent increase in off-premise gaming printers in Europe, Australia and Asia.

Transact said the gains were also due to “early success” from the transition away from using a worldwide distributor. It expects sales gains to continue in the second half as it sells directly to slot machine manufacturers and end users.
