University professor cleans up at ANZPT

A 56-year-old university professor from Sydney stole the show at The Star Casino in New South Wales to be crowned champion of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour.

Jim "The Doctor" Psaros beat a field of 445 entrants to walk away with AU$183,000 ($144,100) after defeating Denis Sekuloski, and Adelaide's Emanuel "Curly" Seal in a final heads-up battle. “The three remaining players agreed to a deal to flatten the payouts which worked out well for Denis Sekuloski. His aggressive play got him in some tricky spots over the last two days but there wasn’t much Sekuloski could do when his pocket kings were cracked by Emanuel Seal’s set of deuces. Sekuloski was derailed in third place leave Seal and Psaros to duke it out,” Poker Asia Pacific news reported

The next event on the ANZPT calendar will be at Crown Melbourne with the ANZPT Melbourne running from October 8 to 20, 2015.
