US judge dismisses lawsuit over alleged Las Vegas room rate hiking strategy

A judge in the United States has dismissed the class action lawsuit against MGM Resorts, Caesars Entertainment and other top hotel chains over allegations they had violated the nation’s antitrust laws when setting room rates.

The lawsuit was directed by consumers who rented hotel rooms since 2019, claiming shared data by the operators allowed for them to “defy supply and demand dynamics” and up room rates, according to reports.
Authorities found that they could not find “which pricing algorithm each hotel operator uses, making it impossible to infer that all hotel operators agreed to use the same ones”.
