Vietnamese Police have arrested a man who was allegedly one of the two leaders of an illegal online gambling ring that was busted last July.
Fifty-year-old Pham Huu Loi, a resident of Hue City deemed extremely dangerous, was caught by provincial police while hiding in Dong Thap Province.
Last year police busted a gambling ring and prosecuted 17 people for illegal online gambling and football match-fixing.
The online Cong an Nhan dan newspaper said police had found documents showing the amount of money gambled to be up to $37.7 million.
It is thought the ring was run by more than 200 people at various levels and involved more than 2,000 gamblers across Vietnam.
