VIP baccarat down 42.2 percent in 15Q2

Gaming revenue from baccarat played by VIPs in Macau decreased 42.2 percent in 15Q2 to MOP31.57 billion year-on-year, according to official data.

The percentage drop in the sector is the lowest since the fourth quarter percentage figure of 2005.

VIP baccarat accounted for about 55.5 percent of gross gaming revenue in the second quarter, having accounted for 58.2 percent in the first, according to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

The industry and analysts expect VIP revenues to decline further if a full smoking ban that would prohibit smoking in private rooms comes into effect .
