Visas to visit Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan issued by China up 27.5 percent during summer holiday 

Chinese authorities unveiled updated immigration data on Thursday, revealing that the National Immigration Administration of China issued over 18.6 million travel visas and documents for travelers to Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan between July 1st and August 29th.

In less than two months, Chinese authorities have also issued 3.42 million passports to nationals, marking a growth of 7.1 percent compared to the previous months.
The statement from China's top immigration service highlights that 82.413 million travelers successfully passed border inspections during the summer holiday, averaging nearly 1.4 million per day. This represents a 19.9 percent increase from the previous period.
According to previously released data, Chinese authorities have issued 42.8 million travel visas to visit Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan in 1H23, a substantial increase of 1,509 percent from the previous year. This figure has recovered to 96.5 percent of 2019 levels.
During the same period, Macau welcomed 11.64 million visitors, which accounts for 59.6 percent of the daily average in 2019, as reported by Macau authorities.
