Wakayama pro-IR group hosts Suncity lecture

A group of local businesspeople have formed a new Wakayama IR Promotion Council and last week hosted a lecture of the Suncity Group.

The event, which was held at a hotel in Wakayama city, is meant to be the first of a series of lectures and study sessions.

At its inauguration, 65 local companies are members of the new organization, and about a hundred individuals are said to have been in attendance last week.

During the lecture, the Suncity representative reportedly emphasized the firm’s commitment to buy necessary goods locally, and projected that the anticipated Wakayama IR could attract more than 10 million visitors annually.

Aside from Suncity, a rival bid led by the Clairvest Group of Canada is also engaged in Wakayama.
