Bureau of Immigration joins POGO crackdown efforts

To further boost the police's investigative capacity in POGO-related incidents, Philippine National Police chief, Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. is seeking to forge better coordination with the Bureau of Immigration and PAGCOR. The crackdown on POGOs linked to illegal activities is part of the government's efforts to preserve the country's safe business climate, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said. Amidst the controversy, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva submitted a bill banning all online gaming, including both POGOs and PIGOs, which has garnered bipartisan support. While other senators have added their voices to the proposal, the bill’s reception was mostly reserved, notwithstanding the significant tax contribution of the online gaming industry to the Nation’s coffers.
