Macau and Zhuhai health authorities will from October 19 scrap the quarantine entry requirement for people entering or returning to Zhuhai from Macau.
Since September 26, Zhuhai had required those coming from Macau to undergo 14 days of quarantine due to an outbreak of Covid-19 cases in Macau.
Zhuhai has now relaxed the restrictions, now only requiring a negative nucleic test that had been taken in the last 48 hours.
The quarantine, which is effectively a border closure, is seen as one of the dampeners of visitor arrivals during Golden Week.
JP Morgan’s DS Kim on Monday said that the lifting of restrictions is a much-needed relief for the sector.
The analyst expects GGR to return to September and May levels by around December, with further recovery subject to further easing of border policies across Macau, Hong Kong and China.
