236 arrested in China for illegal football gambling

A total of 236 suspects in China have been arrested for illegal football gambling during Euro 2016, according to the Ministry of Public Security, quoted by Xinhua.

Over RMB 28 million (US$4.2 million) was seized or frozen in cases involving overseas gambling websites, said MPS in a statement.

According to the MPS, cracking down on cross-border web gambling has become a regular task for the police as international gambling companies have used overseas gambling websites to develop Chinese agents and attract gamblers in recent years.
