Hong Kong and Macau may be hit with another tropical storm, with residents already on edge following the destruction caused by Typhoon Hato on Wednesday.
According to a report from the South China Morning Post, a tropical depression forming east of the Philippines strengthened into a tropical storm on Friday.
The Hong Kong Observatory said there is a 70 percent chance the new storm may find its way to Macau and Hong Kong, which could further slow the recovery process following Wednesday’s typhoon.
The observatory noted that it was too early to tell whether it would hit Macau at this stage.
