Berjaya given go-ahead to run Vietnam lottery for 18 years

Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) has been given the all-clear to run Vietnam’s nationwide computerized lottery for 18 years, local media reports.

According to Bursa Malaysia, the conglomerate received the investment registration certificate to start the project on Jan. 20, after winning the bid to run the lottery on May 2014, at a cost of RM925 million (US$210.58 million).

The certificate was issued by the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment, after BCorp and the Vietnam Computerized Lottery One Member (Vietlott) entered into a business cooperation contract after the win.

BCorp said the project is part of its plans to expand its gaming business internationally.

The project will be carried out by Berjaya Gia Thinh Investment Technology Joint Stock Co (Berjaya GTI), a subsidiary of BCorp, which expects to launch its first game, a Lotto Jackpot game, by mid-2016.
