Boracay casino to proceed despite island closure

Galaxy Entertainment Group’s proposed $500 million casino in Boracay will be proceeding despite an impending closure of the island for up to one year, said PAGCOR on Friday.

“Yes, we are signing the contract for their provisional license before the end of the month,” said Pagcor chairman Andrea Domingo to GMA News on Friday.

The popular tourist hub may close for up to a year in order for the island to clean up excess waste, and improve its waste disposal systems.

However, both Galaxy and Pagcor have confirmed they will go forward with the plan.
