Border bus terminal to reopen 2019

It may take two years before the underground border gate bus terminal is fully restored, according to Macau’s transport and infrastructure officials.

Before typhoon Hato struck in August, the terminal was already undergoing renovation works, however, observing damage caused by the typhoon has forced the Infrastructure Development Office (GDI) to redesign the terminal.

According to a report from Macau Daily Times, it is understood that construction will be carried out in the fourth quarter of 2017 - which will mainly include repair works of the facilities that were damaged during Typhoon Hato.

Main construction is expected to start in the third quarter of 2018, with a full reopening expected for the fourth quarter of 2019.

On average, the bus routes to the Border Gate bus terminal or the Border Gate Plaza take nearly 300,000 passengers on a daily basis, representing 40 percent of total daily visitors.
