Borneo police crackdown on restaurant offering online gambling


Police raided a restaurant in at Taman Sri Dagang in Borneo earlier this week, arresting three, and seizing ten tablets used for online gambling, and cash amounting to RM 5,500. (US$1243.5), local media reports.

According to the head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Dev Kumar, customers who wished to gamble had to collect tablets at the restaurant counter and purchase prepaid coupons to access the gambling website.

Dev said despite the increased crackdown to eradicate cyber gambling in the state, gambling operators have continued to conduct their business. “The state CID is unperturbed by their defiance and will continue operations to flush them out.", “It appears that this year the state and district CID will have their hands full in combating this menace, ” he said.
