China lottery sales up 19.6 percent in 18H1


Lottery sales in China climbed 19.6 percent in the first half of 2018, reaching RMB245.2 billion (US$36.1 billion), according to China’s Ministry of Finance.

China’s sports lottery saw the biggest jump in sales, increasing 36.1 percent to RMB 134.6 billion, while the welfare lottery sales increased by 4.2 percent to RMB 110.6 billion.

The Ministry of Finance noted that lottery sales were boosted by the FIFA World Cup in Russia, with lottery sales increasing 73.2 percent year-on-year in June alone.
