China lottery sales up 19.8 percent in July

China’s sports lottery has reported overall sales in July up 19.8 percent to RMB 32.4 billion ($4.8 billion), according to figures released by China’s Ministry of Finance.

Welfare lottery sales increased 6.7 percent year-on-year to RMB 16.6 billion, while sports lottery sales went up 37.6 percent to RMB 15.8 billion.

In June, lottery sales reached RMB 34.0 billion, up 20.8 percent compared to the same month in 2015.

The jump in lottery sales was partly attributed to the Euro 2016 tournament which took place between June and July.
