Complaint filed against online rummy adverts in Tamil Nadu

A city-based social activist has petitioned the commissioner of police to take down a number of online rummy websites, local media reports.

Activist Elangovan claimed actors Prakash Raj and Rana Dagubati were promoting gambling on a website through an advertisement seen on television.

"I noticed an advertisement where Prakash Raj and Rana Dagubati promoted rummy on the website jungleerummy.com. When I browsed the internet, I found that not just jungleerummy.com, but also rummycircle.com and rummy.in were promoting rummy and making people bet money," he said.

Noting that gambling was illegal, Elangovan requested the city commissioner of police to ban the websites.
