Crown to defend legal challenge regarding Barangaroo approval

Crown Resorts Ltd has announced it will “vigorously” defend a legal challenge to its casino complex at Sydney’s Barangaroo development.

In a filing to the ASX on Tuesday, Crown said it had been served with legal proceedings from the Millers Point Fund Incorporated, challenging the validity of the decision made by the NSW Planning Assessment Commission regarding Crown’s concept plan for Barangaroo, which was approved in June.

According to the company, the first return date for the legal proceedings in the Land and Environment Court of NSW is August 26, 2016.

Crown’s $2 billion six-star development in Barangaroo, Sydney is scheduled to open in 2021.
