DICJ gearing up for more inspectors

Macau’s gaming regulator is hoping to add more inspectors to its roster by year end, Macau Business reports.

Paulo Martins Chan, director of Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony for the new heads of the Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) and Financial Intelligence Office (GIF) on Tuesday, noted that the framework for the internal restructuring had already been completed, and it is now working on legislative procedures.

“We wish to proceed to the legislative procedure by the end of this year, or the beginning of next year,” said Chan.

Chan said that DICJ would be placing more focus on junket operations and matters relating to bookkeeping of the casinos, but would need more inspectors to carry out the extra work.

“[We] do not have enough people to handle the large workload [since] there are more casinos and the monitoring requirements are stricter,” said Chan.
