DICJ urges fair treatment for absentee staff


Following the developments the typhoon on August 23 that brought unprecedented damage to Macau, the DICJ met with representatives of the six concessionaires to discuss ways to optimize and streamline services from gaming staff.

The DICJ urged the concessionaires to offer humane and fair treatment when dealing with staff who were absent on August 23rd. In turn the concessionaires underlined that staff safety is paramount and noted that the absences have been dealt with adequately, and reviewed on a case by case basis.

The gaming industry representatives submitted that they will strengthen staff communication channels and staff service protocols during tropical storms towards a better labor relationship with employees.

The DICJ also stressed that the preservation of public order and security of people within gaming areas is its main object and function within the property’s premises as well as the safety of the staff.

DICJ staff at the multiple gaming properties have been closely monitoring the activities of the concessionaires in an effort to ensure public security and order within the gaming venues.
