Duplicate lottery tickets scam rocks Kochi city in Kerala

Forged lottery tickets have found their way to Kochi once again, with local police unable to bust local syndicates, local media reports.

According to The Times of India, the existence of fake lottery tickets came to light again recently after an elderly lottery agent from west Kochi approached the city police with three fake lottery tickets.

According to the police, the tickets were lookalikes of the original ones. The fraudsters had also forged seals of the distributor.

The syndicate has been creating a replica of a series of tickets with lower prize amounts ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000. "As the prize amount is small, agents easily accept the ticket and give the money," said the officer.
