Duterte meets with Melco executives


President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday held a meeting with the top executives of Melco Resorts and Entertainment, according to a government news release.

While the reasons for the courtesy call was not specified in the release, the announcement made mention of Melco’s new luxury hotel brand NÜWA, which is set to replace the Crown Towers brand at COD Manila and COD Macau starting Tuesday, January 16.

Present at the meeting from Melco Resorts was Lawrence Ho, chairman and chief executive officer of Melco Resorts and Entertainment Corporation (Philippines) and Clarence Chung, Entertainment Gaming Asia chief executive officer, as well as executive vice president Geoff Davis, managing director Evan Wincklen and president Geoffrey Andres.

On the government side, present during the meeting were executive secretary Salvador Medialdea and officials of Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), including chairman and chief executive officer Andrea Domingo and president and chief operations officer Alfredo Lim.

Also in attendance were PAGCOR directors Gabriel Claudio, Reynaldo Concordia, Carmen Pedrosa, and corporate secretary Juanito Sanosa Jr.
