Dynam Japan records dip in profit in FY17

Dynam Japan Holdings posted a decline in profit for the year ended March 31, 2017, according to a filing from the company to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The pachinko hall operator saw profit of JPY 9.4 billion (US$84.1 million) for the full year, a 11.2 percent year-on-year decrease as compared to 2016.

The operator noted that hall operating expenses, other operating expense and finance expenses saw an increase in the year.

Revenue came in at JPY 156.9 billion, an increase of 0.6 percent year-on-year.

“During this fiscal year, our total revenue increased year on year through our operational measures including change in machine mix,” said the company.

Dynam also added that it opened up five new low playing cost halls during the fiscal year, and closed one hall, bringing the total number of halls operated to 446 as at March 31, 2017.

“The pachinko hall industry continues to operate under a harsh environment as the number of customers declines, operators heavily centered on high playing cost halls, and the playing revenues continue to decrease,” said the company in its filing on Thursday.

“On the other hand, we attract customers by creating easily accessible and secure environments through an increase in low playing cost halls and a staged reduction of the percentage of gambling game machines being installed.”
