First 2 days of Golden Week sees 8.8% rise in visitor arrivals


Macau welcomed a total of 297,047 visitors during the first two days of the Golden Week holidays, according to data from the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).

The visitor numbers represent an increase of 8.8 percent from the prior-year period and was made up mostly by mainland visitor arrivals - up 9.6 percent year-on-year. 

The border gate saw 189,506 visitor arrivals, whilst around 22,263 came from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge. 

Nearly a million visitors traveled to Macau during Golden Week last year, rising 7.2 percent year-on-year to 890,000.
