Galaxy Entertainment’s claim for tax exemption dismissed by Macau court

Galaxy Entertainment Group’s claims for a tax exemption of around MOP2.57 million (US$320,919) has been dismissed by a court in Macau.

The company had previously raised an objection to the bill, saying tourism tax on sales of some of its goods and services by StarWorld Hotel should be exempt.

The company had paid the tax provisionally, but took the case to court. The Court of Second Instance has ruled the government can keep the money.
