Galaxy Entertainment’s Francis Lui says "worst is already over" for VIP

Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd’s deputy chairman Francis Lui Yiu Tung believes VIP gaming has already stabilized in Macau, and “the worst is already over,” according to remarks made to Hong Kong media.

Lui said the weaker performing VIP operators in Macau have already been squeezed out, after promoters went down from 300 in the golden days to the current numbers at just a little over 100.

On the other hand, the President of the Association of Gaming and Entertainment Promoters of Macau, Kwok Chi Chung, recently said he believed more VIP room closures are in store for the gambling hub. “After some time, some VIP rooms may have seen the number of customers that they receive is not enough to support their operations. As such, they may prefer shifting some of their resources and focuses from Macau to other places in order to decrease their operational costs here,” he said.
