Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group has signed an agreement with Tange Associates, a Japanese architectural firm, to design a “suitable” IR in Japan, Macau Business reports.
“Tange is probably the leading architectural firm in Japan and have designed and built many of Japan’s most iconic buildings. Tange [Associates] are assisting us in a design and architectural consulting capacity,” said GEG vice president Jeremy Walker on Facebook and Twitter.
“We will be working with [them] to ensure the IR is designed sensitively and sustainably … to attract global visitors [and] to carefully integrate with local attractions and the community in mind.”
The announcement was made shortly before the start of the Japan Gaming Congress, held in Tokyo and May 10 - 11.
Held at a major hotel in central Tokyo, it drew in a capacity crowd of 450 people, mixing international operators with local Japanese businesses and others who hope to become stakeholders in what is predicted to become a multi-billion dollar industry.
