Gaming employee wages steady QoQ; up nearly 20 percent from 2015


Wages of gaming and junket employees held steady this quarter compared with the previous three-month period, with the median monthly rate at MOP19,000 ($2,380), according to official data.

Compared with median monthly earnings of MOP16,000 in 14Q2, when Macau’s gaming industry began seeing revenue declines that have lasted for 16 months now, staff wages have gone up 18.8 percent.

Macau’s total labor force was 402,500 for 15Q3 and the labor force participation rate stood at 73.2 percent. 

Total employment decreased by 200 from June to August, to 394,900, while the number of unemployed stood at 7,600, up slightly by 100 from June to August.

“Fresh labour force entrants searching for their first job accounted for 14.6% of the total unemployed, down by 3.1 percentage points.”
