Gaming workers union calls for smokers blacklist

A local gaming workers association has submitted a petition for the Macau government to set up a ‘blacklist’ for gamblers who illegally smoke in casinos, local media reports. 

Cloee Chao, president of the New Macau Gaming Staff Rights Association said the current regulations are of little deterrence for illegal smoking practices, and that gamblers are not daunted by the current penalty of maximum MOP 200,000 (US$24,740).

Chao said the blacklist suggested by the association is similar to one used for trains in Mainland China.

Smokers who breach the law twice would be barred from entering the casino permanently.
