Goa’s casinos could go cashless

The BJP is currently considering turning Goa’s casino industry cashless, according to comments from chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday, local media reports.

BJP legislator Alina Saldanha had asked Parrikar whether the BJP had contemplated the prohibition of all cash transactions at the Goa casinos, calling the use of cash at casino tables a “major loophole”.

“The issue will be examined as per the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act, 1976, and rules framed thereunder,” said Parrikar in a written reply at the ongoing monsoon session of the Goa assembly.
