Hard Rock Group seeks to expand business in APAC

The Hard Rock Group is preparing to expand its business in Asia Pacific within the next three to five years, reports the Hong Kong Economic Journal.

The company is planning to look into several jurisdictions, including China, Vietnam and Japan, with 17 restaurants, 15 hotels and two casinos planned for the region, Hard Rock chief executive Hamish Dodds, was quoted as saying.

The cities targeted in China include Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Wuhan and Dalian.

The group is also reportedly in discussions with Banyan Tree Group in a bid for a gaming licence in Vietnam. The proposed $2 billion Vietnam project will see between 60 to 80 gaming tables in the first phase, with $100 million contributed by Hard Rock Group.

Japan is also on the radar for the company, and the group is also considering opportunities with Japanese companies to enter the market if gaming is legalized in Japan.
