HKJC hires former government official as corporate comms officer


Racing operator Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has appointed a former Hong Kong minister for mainland China affairs as the company’s executive director of corporate affairs.

Raymond Tam Chi-yuen, who was secretary for constitutional and mainland affairs from 2011 to 2017 is expected take the position on August 15.

A source told SCMP that the role had been vacant for nearly two years.

In his role, Tam will be responsible for enhancing the Club’s engagement strategies with its key stakeholders in both Hong Kong and the Mainland, and acting as the overall coordinator of corporate communications covering all divisions of the Club.

Specifically, he will oversee the functions of Departments of Public Affairs, External Affairs and Mainland Affairs.
