HKJC records double digit growth in soccer betting and lottery

Racing, wagering and lottery operator Hong Kong Jockey Club reported solid turnover for the year ended June 30, 2016 - fueled by double digit growth in soccer betting and the Mark Six.

According to a report from Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post, the HKJC saw revenue jump 5.9 percent year-on-year to HK$202.7 billion ($26.1 billion).

However, rising operating costs hampered the results slightly, hitting HK$26.1 billion, a rise of 4 percent.

Racing also saw only modest growth, rising 1.8 percent in the full year ended June 30. On the other hand, soccer betting was up 10.9 percent to HK$86.8 billion, while revenue from Mark Six marked a record 9.9 percent increase to HK$8.6 billion.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is the sole gambling operator in Hong Kong, operating as a not-for-profit organization.
