Illegal casino in Tokyo Ikebukuro gathered Chinese gamblers

Tokyo cops busted an illegal casino in the Ikebukuro district of Tokyo that gathered a significant proportion of its patrons visiting from mainland China, and in fact regularly served members of a gang called “Chinese Dragon.”

Eight people were arrested in the bust, including manager Takahiro Nakano.

According to police, the main game being played was baccarat, and in the illegal casino’s nearly one year of operations, its revenue was JPY110 million (more than $1 million), some of which may have been used to help fund yakuza groups.

Police say that Nakano and some of the other arrested employees have admitted the charges.
