Imperial Pacific to increase VIP rebate rates

HK-listed Imperial Pacific, owner of Best Sunshine on Saipan, has been given approval to increase the rebate rates for VIPs, local media reports.

The Saipan Casino investor said it made the request to the Commonwealth Casino Commission in order to better compete with the incentives currently offered by Macau, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

The VIP rebate scheme increased from 1.3 percent to 1.8 percent, which will come with a six-month trial period.

Richard Chen, a representative of Imperial Pacific, said: “We are obviously happy about the approval for increasing the percentage of the rolling-chip program even though it is only on a six-month trial basis. It will allow us to be more competitive,” he said, quoted by the Marianas Variety.

He added, “VIP players look for the best offer on credit as well as commissions that they can get. So a lot of our competitors offer as much as they can.”

The current offer of 1.3 percent is “one of the lowest commissions outside of Macau,” said Chen.

So far, the casino commission has received 12 junket applications from groups based in China, Macau, Singapore, Korea as well as locally.
