Imperial Pacific VIP turnover drops 48.1 pct in April

Imperial Pacific’s temporary casino on Saipan generated VIP turnover of US$2.15 billion in the month of April, down 48.1 percent year-on-year, according to the latest company filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The Saipan casino operator has been reporting slumping VIP results over the last few months, with VIP turnover of $2.96 billion in March, and $1.7 billion in February.

Last month, IPI was caught up in a wage dispute from the construction workers hired to build its Imperial Pacific Hotel & Resort. The workers staged a protest complaining about unpaid wages and unsafe working conditions.
