IPI to take Bloomberg to court for defamation

Bloomberg L.P. and two of its reporters are being sued in a Hong Kong court by Imperial Pacific International Holdings for defamation, Marianas Variety reports.

The High Court of Hong Kong SAR’s Court of First Instance has issued a writ of summons to Bloomberg, which has been named first defendant in the lawsuit.

Bloomberg reporters Matthew Campbell and K. Oanh Ha have been named as second and third defendants.

When asked by Marianas Variety, Imperial Pacific said it will “defer comment about the ongoing defamation lawsuit filed in Hong Kong to the parties in that jurisdiction.”

Earlier this year, IPI said it was preparing a defamation lawsuit against Bloomberg in connection to allegations made in a report titled “A Chinese Casino Has Conquered a Piece of America.”

Bloomberg also earlier this year reported of an FBI raid at IPI offices, to which the casino operator denied.
