IR operators pitch to Tomakomai business leaders

Several international IR operators have been meeting with members of the Tomakomai Chamber of Commerce & Industry to discuss their bids to partner with this northern Japanese city.

At an event attended by about 110 people held Wednesday, Caesars Entertainment and the Clairvest Group made their pitches to the local business community.

The Caesars presentation was delivered by Yusuke Watanabe, the firm’s Head of Business Development in Japan. According to a Caesars spokesperson, the presentation “provided an overview of the wide range of business the company is engaged in, including MICE and live entertainment. A concept rendering of a Tomakomai IR, which was revealed by Caesars Entertainment CEO Mark Frissora during a visit to Japan, was also shown to attendees. The concept focuses on the natural beauty of the region with a concept of ‘Spirit of the Forest,’ the world’s first integrated eco-resort.”

Angus Cole of Clairvest told Asia Gaming Brief, “We spoke about our view on what it will take to win a license nationally and how best to position Tomakomai to win a license. Our presentation focused on the need to build a best of breed consortium that would showcase the strengths of several partners, including Japanese investors, a strong IR operator, and an experienced investor with broad international IR experience like Clairvest.”

Hard Rock International is another IR operator which has been focusing on Tomakomai. When asked why they didn’t participate in Wednesday’s event, a Hard Rock executive revealed that his firm had already given a presentation to members of the Tomakomai Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Florida earlier this month.
