Junkets to suspend operations in Wynn Macau

Macau junkets AG Group and Entretenimento Sai Tai Wu Limitada are suspending their operations in Wynn Macau, according to the Macau Business Daily.

Citing internal notices to employees published by the Forefront of Macau Gaming union on its social media page, the newspaper said AG Group will suspend its business in Wynn Macau from September 1 due to Macau’s struggling economy.

AG Group currently operates five VIP rooms in each of the following casinos: Wynn, L’Arc and Galaxy.

Entretenimento Sai Tai Wu Limitada told employees that it is suspending its operations starting August 1.

The company currently operates VIP rooms in Altira and Starworld Casino. It says further announcements will be made following the reconstruction of the company’s internal structure during August.

Junkets and casino operators have cited the potential blanket smoking ban in private rooms as adding problems to junket operators and will result in more job losses.
