Labor day visitor numbers grow 6.7 pct


Visitor arrivals during the Labor Day long weekend grew 6.7 percent year-on-year to over 370,000, according to the Public Security Police Force.

During the holiday period between April 29 to May 1, Macau registered over 375,000 visitor arrivals (excluding non-resident employees and students).

The Greater China market brought the most visitors, an increase of 5.5 percent to 338,000 in the period, with visitor arrivals from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan increasing 5 percent, 7.5 percent and 5.1 percent respectively. Other markets registered a double-digit growth of 18.9 percent.

Industry figures reveal that hotel establishments (hotels and guest houses) in Macau registered an average occupancy rate of 94.5 percent during Labor Day holidays, a year-on-year increase of 2.6 percentage points.

The average room rate of hotel establishments (hotels and guest houses) in Macau during the three-day holidays reached MOP 1,700 (US$212.20) approximately, slightly up by 1.2 percent.
