Lottoland to plead case with WA government

Lottoland management are in Perth this week to try to deter a proposed ban on online lottery betting businesses, local media reports.

Chief executive Luke Brill reportedly met with a cross-section of State MPs on Wednesday to plead the company’s case.

“We want to sit down and work out how we can work with them ... and get our side of the story across,” said Brill said yesterday, quoted The West Australian. “We are not the huge offshore threat everyone keeps talking about.”

Tasmania too far gone

The Tasmanian government has already announced plans to draw up legislation to ban lottery outcome wagering.

The move was welcomed by the state’s newsagencies and lottery distribution outlets, who had previously raised concerns about the impact on their businesses.

Last week, it was reported that the NSW government was also looking to restrict the operation of “synthetic lotteries” such as Lottoland, with officials raising concerns over lack of consumer protection compared to domestic lotteries.
