Macau gaming GVA drops to MOP 254.7 billion in 2014

The Macau gaming industry's contribution to total Gross Value Added (GVA) of the city dropped 4.9 percentage points, to MOP 254.7 billion (US$31.4 billion) in 2014, according to official data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

The figures show the contribution of the gaming sector made up 59.1 percent of Macau’s total annual GVA. The drop for the gaming industry also brought down the GVA of the whole services sector, which decreased by 4.2 percent in real terms compared to 2013.

The relative importance of the sector decreased to 94.8 percent in 2014, compared to 96.3 percent in 2013.

However, whilst the service sector contribution to total GVA decreased, the proportion of the secondary sector - led mostly by construction, rose by 1.5 percent year on year, to 5.2 percent in 2014. The statistics show the construction sector went up 40.6 percent year on year compared to 2013.
