Macau GGR jumps 29.2 pct in July


Macau gross gaming revenue jumped above analyst expectations in July, reaching MOP22.96 billion (US$2.86 billion) in the month, according to the latest data from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

The month’s GGR figure was 29.2 percent year-on-year higher than July 2016 results.

According to Bernstein, average daily revenue (ADR) for the month was MOP 741 million - 11 percent above June’s ADR of MOP 666 million.

"The July performance was all the more impressive considering the slow start to the month on the heels of PRC President Xi Jinping’s visit to Hong Kong. In addition, the calendar was slightly unfavorable with one fewer Fridaythis year," noted Union Gaming analysts. 

Looking forward to August, Bernstein anticipates gross gaming revenue in the month to reach MOP 23 billion – 23.6 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 22-25 percent.
