Macau operators change shuttle bus policy

Two of Macau’s operators have changed their shuttle bus policies to require customers to produce their casino loyalty card in order to board, local media reports.

The Wynn Macau and MGM China Holdings Ltd have reportedly changed their policies from March 1, which requires customers who travel on the shuttle to provide a purchase receipt or a membership card of one of their casino loyalty programs.

MGM has posted a number of notices at the shuttle terminals to inform travelers of the new conditions.

Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd, owner of City of Dreams casino has reportedly also put together a similar policy, but applicable only to visitors travelling between the Gongbei border during peak hours.

Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd and Sands China Ltd have stated they have no plans to further change their free shuttle policies in Macau.

Earlier this year, the Macau Transport Bureau urged operators to cut shuttle bus routes in the territory in order to free up the roads and develop public transportation.

Sands China was reported to have cut the largest number of buses, reducing its shuttle buses from 21 to 17, accomplishing the goal set out by DSAT.

SJM Holdings reduced from 12 to nine, with another two to be cut, and MGM has cut routes from 5 to 4, also accomplishing its goal.
